Teaching Someone To Play - A Thematic Approach (Podcast Supplement)

So, you're introducing someone new to the game, let's say someone who hasn't played a lot of games before, and isn't ready to really just "jump in" to 8 Waves (or more if you're reading this in the future).  Let's teach them the basics in a nice, comfortable environment.  Now a podcast discussion instead of a blog post, really.

Steel Strategy's Un-named Armada Podcast | Episode 19 - Beginner Fleets and NK-7s,

Game 1:

We're going to start at 300 points, and keep things simple for the new player.  The goal of this game is to introduce them to the game, without anything too crazy to distract them.  We're also going to run what should be something that they could easily recognize from the movies.  The new player should focus on learning how maneuvering works, and as such has been given ships that do better when you point them at the enemy.

MC80 Star Cruiser (96)

CR90A Corvette (44)

Make decisions after Game 1 to see what you want to introduce the player to in the coming games.  Probably for Game 2 focus on easy to understand Commanders, with list built around their strengths.
