Revised Commander's Guide - Nebulon-B Frigate

Did you know I don't usually use Nebulon-B Frigates?  That's right, I haven't put one into one of my tournament lists in... quite a long time.  I'm not sure why.  Was I scared off by how quickly Demolisher eats one if it gets up close in the old Wave 1 days, when Assault Concussion Missile was the rule of the day, and not Assault Proton Torpedoes?  Do I just not like something as popular as Yavaris?

No matter the reason, the Nebulon-B is a good ship that has stayed around and found its footing after the Wave 1 days, squadrons "being weak", and Demolisher dominance.

Also, did you know the Nebulon-B article on this site is by far the most popular Commander's Guide of all time?  It's a tricky ship to get right, and realistically there's only so many things you can do with it that aren't overshadowed by other, better ships.

Look!  It's 2 more Nebulon-B's than you'll ever use!

After Action Report - Biggs Plays Legion

Biggs here!  I finally had the chance to play an 800 point game of Legion.  I've bought in with Rebels, and my friend Chris went with Imperials, and we both had assembled our core set and one of each expansion.  We were playing at our local game store, which had a lot of custom terrain available for us to play with.

Help! Help! I'm Being Suppressed!

Repressed!  Suppressed!  Same thing right?

Either way I'm sure we can all see the violence inherit in the Legion game system.

Despite all that violence, it is still more than possible to win games of Legions without actually killing much of the opposing force.  Not that going pew-pew and blowing up your opponent's troopers isn't good times.  It's just that you can often often accomplish your goals by simply aiming a few blaster bolts in the other guy's direction and forcing them to keep their heads down.

The suppression system is one of my favorite parts of the Star Wars: Legion core mechanics and I'm going offer you some tips to getting the most out of it.

Impressions from my first Legions games.

After what seems like half a year of hype from FFG, Star Wars: Legions was finally released last week.  Now as I am a sucker for all things Star Wars and most things FFG, I might be described as the target audience for this game.

So, I eagerly headed down to the FLGS and picked up my copy as soon as I could.  My 3-year-old was ALMOST as excited about the game as I was and eagerly helped me start assembling the models.

Wave 7 Upgrades - Imperial Officers

No seriously, I've got a lot of Armada articles to write too!  Wave 7 released a lot of really interesting officers, which all are very competitive for their slots.  Unfortunate that every ship can only take one.  (Yeah, yeah, Phoenix Home)  Let's talk about the Imperial specific ones.

Ground Commander's Guide - Luke Skywalker

For our first actual unit guide, we are going to take a look at our hero of the rebellion, a true Legend, Luke Skywalker!

The only question is how I'm going to get my Luke painted in this scheme.

Ground Commander's Guide - Issuing Orders & Generic Command Cards

Biggs here!  With the release of Legion on Thursday, it's time to get into the game those of us at Steel Command are most excited about.  I'm going to be covering some of the basics of the game, then I'll be getting into the units themselves, not unlike the Commander's Guides for Armada.  Truthiness and Shmitty have been talking about doing battle reports for their games, as well as general impressions of the game.  Shmitty may join me in talking about core mechanics as well.

Well, without further ado... let's talk about Orders!

Wave 7 Upgrades - Drunkle Raddus

I say we fight!

Thrawn is good but it is hard to really plan how to use him.  Drunk Uncle Raddus is easy to build a list around.  He says we fight!  He has ideas!  He drops big nasty things on your opponent's flank and then rips them apart!

Wave 7 Regionals Data Analysis

Despite the caricature of irrationality I like to play, I'm truly an analyst at heart. It's no surprise, then, that I've loved the Armada Regionals data collection and analysis project since Shmitty started it a couple years back. Since Shmitty stepped back, Baltanok has been going it alone. In an effort to help him out, I recently undertook a rebuild of the data sheet from scratch to be more automated with its formulas. In the process, I've somehow made myself one of the community's latest data gurus. Damn it, Shmitty, how the hell did you mind trick me into this?

Revised Commander's Guide - CR90 Corellian Corvette

The venerable CR-90 Corellian Corvette.

What is there to say about this little guy?  It has changed quite a bit since it's release with the Core Set, and with the extra cards that came with it in Wave 1.  Even though it is no longer the cheapest Rebel ship (or even the cheapest Rebel combat ship) it has never really fallen out of favor, and each new wave seems to bring new toys for it to use.  So, let's take a look at the CR90 and what Wave 7 can bring to the table.

Best Use for Each Ship - Imperials

After taking a look at the Best Use for Each of the Rebel Ships, it is time to do the same for the Imperials.

Please remember, this isn't about the only use.  It's just my very subjective, although obviously correct, opinion on the best use for each of the Imperial ships.

Wave 7 Upgrades - Grand Admiral Thrawn

What ship wouldn't want to make 2 commands?  Today, we'll look at one of the two newest commanders for Wave 7 and the best character to come out of the Expanded Universe.  Ladies and Gentlemen... Grand Admiral Thrawn!
