RitR - YT-2400 Ace - Mart Mattin

Matt Martin is an interesting squadron, in that he can do some serious damage to enemy ships that don't take him seriously, and bypasses normal squadron rules.  Let's look at him now:

Commander's Guide - Super Star Destroyer: Star Dreadnought Prototype

We've got our hands on it now, so let's look at how you can bring a Super Star Destroyer into the game.  We'll be starting with the "tournament legal" variants, the Star Dreadnought Prototypes.

Revised Commander's Guide - X-Wing Squadrons

Well, if I'm going to write about all the other stuff that has changed since Wave 1, I might as well talk about squadrons too.  Today we'll go over the ubiquitous and probably most well-known Rebel starfighter, the X-Wing.

You probably have a LOT of X-Wings.
How many X-Wing squadrons do you have?  You probably have 4 from the core set, plus 2 for each Rebel Fighter 1 pack.  Or you could be me with 2 core sets, 3 Fighter 1 packs and plans to buy a 4th so I can get some replacement Y-Wings since "Green" and "Yellow" squadrons broke off engines and maybe I want to run 8 A-Wings some day.  Point is, you've got quite a few.  (14, with plans for 16 in my case)

Revised Commander's Guide - Assault Frigate Mark II

Clearing out Wave 1, and after this is over I'll just have a few Rebel Wave 2 ships to go over.  Let's take a look at a much maligned ship from Wave 1, the Assault Frigate Mk II.

Revised Commander's Guide - Raider-Class Corvette

In the beginning, there was only one small base ship for the Empire, and it was the Demolisher Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer.  With Wave 2 came the first true picket combat ship the Empire would have - a ship cheap enough to fill holes in your list, or to take multiple units to maximize your activations.  Clontroper5 showed what the power of the Raider was, with a list that maximized the amount of Raiders on the board back at the start of Wave 2.  And then... with Wave 3/4 and the Gozanti, Raiders faded off into relative obscurity.

Now, in the dead middle of Wave 7, where does the Raider-Class Corvette sit?  How is it different from when it first came out, and what role does it have with other options for cheap escort ship available?

Revised Commander's Guide - CR90 Corellian Corvette

The venerable CR-90 Corellian Corvette.

What is there to say about this little guy?  It has changed quite a bit since it's release with the Core Set, and with the extra cards that came with it in Wave 1.  Even though it is no longer the cheapest Rebel ship (or even the cheapest Rebel combat ship) it has never really fallen out of favor, and each new wave seems to bring new toys for it to use.  So, let's take a look at the CR90 and what Wave 7 can bring to the table.

Commander's Guide - MC75 Cruiser

Time to (finally) get to the other Large Ship release of Wave 7, the MC75 Cruiser from the Profundity expansion pack.  We'll take a look at the two variants, and look at their roles in the Rebel fleet and how you might want to kit them out.

Revised Commander's Guide - Imperial Star Destroyer

Next in our list of Revised Commander's Guides, I think it is time to look at the Imperial Class Star Destroyer, which just saw the number of variants jump from the typical "two" of literally every other ship, to four different possibilities.  And all this from the Chimera expansion pack!  Well, might as well dive into the meat.

Commander's Guide - Quasar Fire Class Carrier

Since Wave 1 we have had expensive battleships that could double as a carrier, and Wave 3 gave us the flotilla, a support ship that had the primary role of a pocket carrier, but never have we had an actual dedicated carrier ship.  Wave 6 fixes this for the Empire, but adding the Quasar Fire Class Cruiser-Carrier.

Commander's Guide - TIE Defender

Oh hell yes.  Today is a glorious day, because today is the day the best fighter squadron.  The one I've been saving for last.  The TIE Defender.

I mean look at this beautiful fighter!

Commander's Guide - Lancer-Class Pursuit Craft

Oh, look.  The rebels get what the Firespray should have been!  Wait a second.  2 days of Rebels in a row?  Why could that be...

Commander's Guide - VCX-100 Freighter

It's about time to talk about the Rebel's version of the Lambda Shuttle - the VCX-100 Freighter, and the Ghost / Hera Syndulla elite version of that squadron.

Commander's Guide - VT-49 Decimator

Now we are cooking with dynamite!  The VT-49 Decimator is big and angry.  Let's take a look and how big and how angry it is:

Commander's Guide - E-Wings

Time to talk about another new feature of Wave 5, the Snipe keyword.  We already discussed it to a point in Corellian Conflict's TIE Interceptor, but now we see the Rebel variant, and it comes on a generic!

Commander's Guide - Lambda-Class Shuttle

Here we have two of the more interesting new mechanics of the new Wave 5 squadrons.  The Lambda-Class Shuttle shows off the new Relay keyword as well as the Strategic keyword.  Let's take a look at the shuttle, and what those new keywords can mean for your overall squadron strategy.

Commander's Guide - Pelta-Class Cruiser

Time to look at the final of the two Wave 5 ships, the Pelta-Class Cruiser from the Phoenix Home expansion.  It is an interesting ship that isn't "great" at fighting, but can be used as a platform for a new type of upgrade - Fleet Support.  Each one has you spend a specific token in the start of the ship phase to give yourself a very nice buff.

Commander's Guide - TIE Phantoms

God damn it.

I remember playing X-Wing in Wave 4 and being super excited that my favorite ship was coming out.  That's right, the TIE Defender, the best Expanded Universe fighter ever designed.  Expensive, sure, but better than anything the Rebellion or Empire ever fielded up to that point.  It came with some nasty tricks for its time (White K-Turn!) and a mean stat line.

Also at that time came out the OTHER Expanded Universe TIE project that was the best and most expensive that it could be.  It was from an inferior game, and did stupid cloaking things.  The TIE Phantom.  And as much as I wanted to make my beautiful TIE Defenders work, it was clear they were outclassed by the TIE Phantom's movement shenanigans.

These guys are going to be annoying aren't they?

Commander's Guide - Z-95 Headhunter

It takes a while to clear out actual ships, but squadrons are fast!  I can do a squadron Monday - Friday and probably fit the Pelta in there somewhere next week.  Sounds good?  We are going to talk about the new Wave 5 Rebel squadrons today, specifically the Z-95 Headhunter, the predecessor to the X-Wing and all-around cheap, crappy squadron.

Commander's Guide - Arquitens-Class Light Cruiser

The Arquitens Class Light Cruiser brings to the table something the Imperials really haven't had before - a long range / Turbolaser based light cost ship.  Not a brawler by any means, the Arquitens-Class looks to fill a vital role in Imperial fleets whose big Red dice contributions have come from Victory or Imperial-Class Destroyers.
