I am Sick

Day 0

Day 1 of chemo.  So far not awful.  Got a decent night sleep.  I still look like shit, but hey would you expect me not to?
Hey my own blood tried to kill me, so I decided I would kill it instead with poison to teach it a leason.

Day 2 of chemo ends with me and my body in a state of uneasy truce.  You can't poop 'till you poop.  Day 3 will be the be the final judge.

Ever close your eyes and just have colors leap up onto a blank canvas?  That was my night last night.  Normally I am a sound sleeper and don't really even remember my dreams, but I would close my eyes and have this tapestry to watch my subconsious paint pattern on for me.  It made the breef bits of sleep I got memorable.   Like a kaleidoscope that reacted to the music around it.  I have no artistic talent, but it was phenominal.  A presentation fully visual from my mind.

Something to think about more, later.  Day 3 awaits!

I pooped.  This is a major victory.

I walked around the ward twice with the love of my life.  The second time I have been out of the room on my own feet since Monday.   Slightly more major than pooping.

Blood tests are coming back good (for where I am).  Gonna be a good time.

Just overwhelmed by the amount of support we have been recieving.  Both from Staff here and more importantly from our friends and family.  You guys are the best and I mean it from the bottom of my drug-addled and sleep deprived heart.
Day 4 of chemo start.
Today's Objectives:
1: Find way into the firefighters banquet.
2:  Eat good food and enjoy good company.

Achieved sucess on all acounts.  Eventhough I am tired now.

Day 5 of Chemo start. (1 week admission)
Today's Objectives:
1: Shower
2: Relax
3:  Defeat late night panics through use of both logic amd science.

Handled #3 already.  Making it a bonus goal.

Reluctantly adding "walking" as goal 4.  I need to do some steps.

Goals are important.  See what is close, and what you can achieve in this bite.

Haven't updated in a bit.  Got done w/ treatment and beginning the road to recovery.  Gonna be here in the hospital a bit longer.

It is now day 6 of my recovery from chemo.  I am feeling, all in all with medication, pretty darn good for poisoning myself to kill my own blood.  Gonna be here a while more, as I have no immune system at the moment, but hey, if you have no immune system you might as well not feel sick (because you're the Infection Prevention Liaison at work and insane about not getting infected in the first place).

Went for a jog yesterday (12/30/16) through the ward.  Freaked out the nurses, who I don't think have ever seen anyone jogging through the hemotology ward.  I started walking a half mile, and by lap 4 / 10 I was getting bored.  So... jog time.  Wasn't very fast, but first lap of it I had the nurses staring at me.  At the second lap, I had them asking what my hemoglobin is (8.7! - I can exercise!).  At the fourth lap I was explaining I was just going a half mile, no worries.  Walked the 10th lap to cool down.  Felt really good afterwords, especially since I was sleeping most of the day.

Day 13 of recovery.  Got word that as soon as my neutrofils(sp?) come back at 0.5 I get discharged.  Remission?  Probably.

Guess who has no hair?

Day 16 of recovery.  Neutrophils need to come back.  Today they are at 0.1.  Just need to make them 5 times as many.  I hope to get out this weekend.

Monday 1/9/16

Only one goal for today.

A long time between updating, but the whole thing has a happy ending:

  1. Aren't you supposed to be suspended in a bacta tank with a medical droid nearby? :-D

    The Rebellion is with you!

  4. Seriously dude, keep on kicking a**! Glad to see you doing well.

I had a friend go through organ transplants so I definitely know what it's like to be around someone in that condition. Not fun.
