Wave 2 Weapons Teams

Previously we've covered Wave 2's new officers, but today we are going to talk about the Weapons Teams that come with the new Wave 2 ships.  What ships do they work with?  What roles do they improve?

Well, let's take a look at the two new Weapons Teams.  We've got 3 ships that can utilize them in the new expansion - the Raider, the MC30c and the ISD, plus the three ships from the previous wave: the AFII, the GSD, and the VSD.




Ordinance Experts - 4 pts - When attacking, you may reroll any number of Black dice.  This is a card that you can see used to replace the venerable Admiral Screed to keep your ordinance ships flying and firing - and what looks to be a near auto-include on the MC30c.  You're looking at improving the already powerful Black dice to an average of 1.25 damage per roll, and if fishing for a critical changes the chance of 4 Black dice from 67% of the time, to 88% chance of getting at least one (58% to 82% chance for 3 Black) assuming you reroll all your dice.  An obvious addition to the MC30c or Gladiator, and a possible addition to the VSD1 or Raider, especially one sporting Expanded Launchers.

Ruthless Strategists - 4 pts - After attacking a Squadron, you deal 1 damage to a friendly squadron engaged with the defender.  If you do, the defender suffers 1 damage.  Yet another wonderful way to deal damage to "Scatter" defense token users.  This is a relatively cheep upgrade that lets you support anti-squadron fire, especially if you have a high hull squadron along for the ride.  You might see this useful on an AFII-A or Raider, or possibly on the infrequently used GSDII.  This probably works best when used with inexpensive Bombers like Y-Wings and TIE Bombers, or to guarantee the first hit on Bossk for hunting enemy squadrons.
