VWC Elimination Round - Commander Dave vs Brobafett

CommanderDave - 392 Bid

Gladiator II-Class Star Destroyer (62 points)
-  Demolisher  ( 10  points)
-  Agent Kallus  ( 3  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Engine Techs  ( 8  points)
-  External Racks  ( 3  points)
= 90 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
-  Hondo Ohnaka  ( 2  points)
-  Comms Net  ( 2  points)
= 27 total ship cost

[ flagship ] Interdictor-class Suppression Refit (90 points)
-  General Romodi  ( 20  points)
-  Interdictor  ( 3  points)
-  Captain Brunson  ( 5  points)
-  Engine Techs  ( 8  points)
-  Disposable Capacitors  ( 3  points)
-  Heavy Ion Emplacements  ( 9  points)
-  Targeting Scrambler  ( 5  points)
-  Grav Shift Reroute  ( 2  points)
= 145 total ship cost

1 Tel Trevura ( 17 points)
1 Morna Kee ( 27 points)
3 VT-49 Decimators ( 66 points)
1 Dengar ( 20 points)
= 130 total squadron cost

Be careful what you've unleashed.  After Trogdor04 was forced to bow out of the VWC, Commander Dave stepped in as the first standby player and quickly made short work of POD E.  Winning all 3 of his games, he brings a Romodi without the signature Onager, instead relying on a Grav Shift Reroute Interdictor kitted out for both offense, defense, and mobility.  An Agent Kallus GSD-II Demolisher adds some punch, and a large point value squadron ball of Tel Trevura, Morna Kee, Dengar, and 3 generic Decimators look to punish generic squadrons or add damage to ships.

392 bid, 6 deployments, and 3 activations.

Brobafett - 390 Bid

[ flagship ] Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (120 points)
-  Admiral Sloane  ( 24  points)
-  Avenger  ( 5  points)
-  Hondo Ohnaka  ( 2  points)
-  Flight Controllers  ( 6  points)
-  Boosted Comms  ( 4  points)
-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)
-  Quad Battery Turrets  ( 5  points)
-  Leading Shots  ( 4  points)
= 177 total ship cost

Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier (54 points)
-  Squall  ( 3  points)
-  Governor Pryce  ( 7  points)
-  Flight Controllers  ( 6  points)
-  Expanded Hangar Bay  ( 5  points)
-  Boosted Comms  ( 4  points)
= 79 total ship cost

1 Ciena Ree ( 17 points)
1 Maarek Stele ( 21 points)
1 Howlrunner ( 16 points)
1 Mauler Mithel ( 15 points)
1 Saber Squadron ( 12 points)
1 Valen Rudor ( 13 points)
1 Dengar ( 20 points)
1 Colonel Jendon ( 20 points)
= 134 total squadron cost

Brobafett brings Sloane and a bunch of named squadrons to batter away everything in his path.  Your standard 2 ship Imperial build, which is his bread and butter, with nothing newer than Wave 7 (and then only Pryce).  A Quasar pushes a ton of squadrons, and Avenger makes whoever has to deal with those squadrons hurt.

390 Bid, 6 deployments and 2 activations + Pryce.

Biggs' Analysis:

Commander Dave's build is designed to bully generics, with the Demo being the Ace assister, and Brobafett's Sloane is designed to bully aces, but I don't think it loses too as much against the 50/50 split.  Interdoctor vs Sloane is a quality matchup as well, but I think Sloane edges this one out.

With the bid and Pryce, and a lot of experience, I think he takes this matchup against a very creative Romodi build.

Definitely Not Also Just More Biggs Analysis:

Look, with only a couple games left to play here, Romodi just wins.  Sloane has one game remaining and is hovering at 16 points / POD while Romodi, even with a POD filled with Romodis, is outperforming her at 19 points / POD.

Do the math.  Sloane doesn't stand a chance.

  1. I feel personally attacked that you included my main man Vader in this graph!
