Team Analysis - Alamo City Fleet

Officially their name is Alamo City Fleet Command Det 1, but I'm damned if I'm going to repeatedly write that out.  There's a reason we call the smallest US state "Rhode Island" and not the "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations".

Let's preview the Alamo City Fleet!

Members:

Ardaedhel - Team Captain
Cutter9999
DourPrize

Both Ardaedhel and Cutter9999 were elimination round players in the world cup, giving a veteran presence to anchor the team, and newcomer DourPrize... is a true newcomer, with no posts at all to his name.  My guess is that they are all from Texas, making them our second geographic team (Church of Rocco being all Australians being the first).

Lists:

Cutter9999 - Commander, Task Force 1
Colonel Rhymer's Tactical Group (399/400)
===========================================
Victory-class Star Destroyer: Victory I-class Star Destroyer (105)
- Admiral Motti (24)
- Ruthless Strategists (4)
- Boosted Comms (4)

Victory-class Star Destroyer: Victory I-class Star Destroyer (81)
- Ruthless Strategists (4)
- Boosted Comms (4)

Victory-class Star Destroyer: Victory I-class Star Destroyer (81)
- Ruthless Strategists (4)
- Boosted Comms (4)

Squadrons: (132 points)
Major Rhymer (16)
Tie Bomber Squadron x8 (72)
Jumpmaster 5000 x2 (24)
Dengar (20)

Cutter's list meets the descriptor well.  9 TIE Bombers (one Rhymer) and enough Intel to escape just about any fighter cover.  He also gets the advantage of a very big deployment advantage (8) and three activations from the VSDs give just a slight advantage over a traditional 2 ship Imperial list.  Ruthless Strategists are his way of dealing with enemy fighters, as his bombers have the hull to survive attacks.

He has pretty much no initiative bid, going at 399 - just enough to keep someone honest, and his ships are a bit slow and not particularly threatening outside of short range.  Look for him to try and match up against ship heavy opponents with small fighter support.

DourPrize - Commander, Task Force 2
Shadaloo Squadron (389/400)
========================================
Home One: MC80 Command Cruiser (151)
- Garm Bel Iblis (25)
- Adar Tallon (10)
- Boosted Comms (4)
- Advanced Projectors (6)

Assault Frigate Mark II: Assault Frigate Mk.II B (105)
- Raymus Antilles (7)
- Flight Controllers (6)
- Boosted Comms (4)
- Electronic Countermeasures (7)
- Gallant Haven (8)

Squadrons: (134)
X-wing Squadron x3 (39)
Luke Skywalker (20)
B-wing Squadron x4 (56)
Jan Ors (19)

DourPrize also has constructed a squadron heavy fleet, but with a bit more of an initiative bid (389).  Going down to a 2 ship Rebel, he's given up deployment (6) and activations for a painful squadron attack.  Between Garm and Raymus, his ships have the ability to activate all 9 squadrons on the very first engagement, and Adar Tallon helps ensure that one of the squadrons becomes a mini-Yavaris.

That's where most of his damage is located though - neither ship has anything in the way of ship boosting upgrades - just defensive ones.  Because Cutter has very little in the way of anti-squadron support, look for DourPrize to match up against opponents with moderate fighter cover - his X-Wings and Flight Controllers should be able to punch through that and rack up some easy points.  He also could wind up being the "all-comers" list, if Ardaedhel doesn't want that honor.

As of writing this article, DourPrize has won his first game against Moodswing5537 and his (almost) squadronless fleet by a resounding 10-0, playing Precision Strike.

Ardaedhel - Combined Forces Space Component Commander
Commander, Task Force 3
The Shores of Confession v1.6 (383/400)
======================================
CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (74)
- General Rieekan (30)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (44)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (44)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (44)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (44)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (44)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)

CR90 Corvette: CR90 Corvette B (39)

Squadrons: (50)
- Dash Rendar (24)
- Han Solo (26)

Ardaedhel, Team Captain, brings one of the more interesting skew lists.  Rieekan and 7 CR90Bs, plus two named, Rogue, freighter pilots.  Everything on Ardaedhel's list has zombie potential, and nothing can be removed from the map before it is crashed into by or crashes into the opponent.  It dominates in deployment (8) and activations (7) and ties Bacta the Future for the cheapest initiative bid of the tournament (383).

With that being said, it doesn't have anything but sheer numbers to deal with squadrons, and relies on its speed to deal with long range fire.  Look for it to match up against large, slow opponents and win by trading CR90s for bigger prizes.  Don't expect it to win many matches 10-0, but it can keep some matches closer than they should be, if it doesn't trip over itself.

Overall:

Between veteran leadership, a good spread of list archetypes, and a fairly cheap team (1171 - third cheapest), you can expect to see Alamo City make a name for themselves this tournament.  As of this article, they've already won their first matchup, 10-0.
