Team Analysis - Chaos Shanghied

Well, this took way to long to get around to.

Captain ICT - Team Captain
Green Knight (dropped R2)
Rowansl (replaced Green Knight R2 as an Alternate)

Chaos Shanghied came into the tournament with a well stacked team, including the co-creator of Armada's Vassal program, Green Knight, and all regular tournament players.  Captain ICT wound up as Captain for the team, if only due to gentle ribbing about his name during team signups.  Chilligan is a fellow blogger and opponent of mine during the last POD tournament.  Rowansl is a WV player who I've played in the past, and subbed in for Green Knight during scheduling issues in the 2nd round.

Captain ICT
400 / 400

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate  (69 points)
 - Raymus Antilles
 - Yavaris

Nebulon-B Support Refit (58 points)
 - Salvation

MC80 Command Cruiser (142 points)
 - General Dodonna
 - Walex Blissex
 - Boosted Comms
 - Electronic Countermeasures

Squadron Total: (131 points)
 - B-wing Squadron x4 (56)
 - Keyan Farlander B-wing Squadron (20)
 - Luke Skywalker X-wing Squadron (20)
 - Jan Ors Moldy Crow (19)
 - ''Dutch'' Vander Y-wing Squadron (16)

A 3 ship list with a heavy bomber compliment, Captain ICT's list is characterized by it's slow speed (B-Wings and MC80, not to mention Nebulon B's) and heavy punch.  Definitely a list that is looking to involve itself in a brawl, it clocks in at 400 points, giving up any hope of a bid.  With that in mind, it does have a fairly strong deployment advantage (7), and the chance to do a ton of damage if it can get those B-Wings into the fight with Yavaris.

It's one engagement so far in the tournament was a 10-0, 548 MOV route.  Final round matchup has it up against Zanos, a list that will be slightly more maneuverable and can engage from long range.  Should be an excellent matchup.

Green Knight
399 / 400

Assault Frigate Mark II B (130 points)
 - General Rieekan
 - Adar Tallon
 - Flight Controllers
 - Expanded Hangar Bay
 - Electronic Countermeasures

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (69 points)
 - Raymus Antilles
 - Yavaris

Nebulon-B Support Refit (72 points)
 - Intel Officer
 - Turbolaser Reroute Circuits
 - Salvation

Squadron Total:  (128 points)
''Dutch'' Vander Y-wing Squadron (16)
Wedge Antilles X-wing Squadron (19)
X-wing Squadron x2 (26)
Jan Ors Moldy Crow (19)
Scurrg H-6 Bomber x3 (48)

Green Knight has taken a further variation on Captain ICT's list, running slightly faster (but more expensive) bombers, upgrading Salvation, downgrading the MC80 to an Assault Frigate, and bringing Rieekan instead of Dodonna.  It's pretty much the same in terms of the numbers, 7 deployments, 399 bid, and only 3 activations.  Still, it has the potential to put out of a ton of damage from the bombers, and Rieekan means that Yavaris will get off the attack.

Rowansl played the only game with the list so far, winning 9-1, 299 MOV.  This round it finds itself against a more difficult matchup, against an anti-squadron brawler list with JJs Juggernaut at the helm.  Green Knight is listed as the pilot as of right now, but was reported to have dropped - this will be a matchup to keep an eye on going forward.

Chilligan - Crazy Torpedoes
Points: 391/400

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (122 points)
-  Mon Mothma  ( 30  points)
-  Admonition  ( 8  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Advanced Projectors  ( 6  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (94 points)
-  Foresight  ( 8  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)
-  Expanded Launchers  ( 13  points)

CR90 Corvette A (51 points)
-  Turbolaser Reroute Circuits  ( 7  points)

CR90 Corvette A (51 points)
-  Turbolaser Reroute Circuits  ( 7  points)

CR90 Corvette A (51 points)
-  Turbolaser Reroute Circuits  ( 7  points)

A-Wing Squadrons x2 ( 22 points)

And here is the outlier to the other two list's Bomber heavy meta.  Chilligan brings more activations (5), an actual bid (391), and slightly less deployments (6), for a list that combines long range firepower from the CR90s and short range punching from a pair of MC30cs.  It's a list that needs first player to be most effective, and the bid should be enough to get that advantage with a good matchup.  The MC30cs are brawlers and point hogs, bringing their respective titles and Mon Mothma for survivability.  A pair of A-Wings provide the only anti-fighter protection in the entire list.

It won its first game fairly decisively, getting an 8-2, 202 MOV win in the 2nd round, but is matched up against a similar foe in Madaghmire's Rieekan based MC30c / CR90 list, where it is outbid 383 to 391.  Probably the worst matchup for Chaos Shanghied of the entire set, it will be imperative for Chilligan to do well to keep their 1st place hopes alive.

Overall, Chaos Shanghied has been a solid team so far, and after finding themselves in first place after a fortuitous bye, they showed they deserved to be there by demolishing their opponent and claiming 27 of 30 possible Round 2 points, marking the best team effort so far in the tournament.

They need only average 5-5 draws across their remaining 3 games to take the championship, which is certainly something that they should be able to do, while their opponent needs to change that spread into an 11-19 split to give themselves a shot at first overall.  That being said, it doesn't look like any of their lists are designed to be flown defensively, meaning they will likely need to put the foot on the gas to secure their championship win.
