Team Analysis - Full Jar Jar

The jokes have already been made, but the most appropriate one seems to be "Never go Full Jar Jar."

Not an accurate depiction on Round 1.

Members:

Doobleg - Team Captain
Miedomeda
Matt Shadowlord

A true veteran team, Doobleg is a regular in these tournaments, and has done finished in the upper half of each one.  Miedomeda is a fellow POD7 participant from the previous World Cup tournament, and a good player in his own right.  Matt Shadowlord rounds out the group, a familiar face for those on the forums and marking his return as a regular vassal participant.

Lists:

Matt-Shadowlord - "Mesa Rebel Goodie Goodie!"
Points: 396/400

Assault Frigate Mark II B (99 points)
-  Intel Officer  ( 7  points)
-  Gunnery Team  ( 7  points)
-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)

Assault Frigate Mark II B (134 points)
-  Admiral Ackbar  ( 38  points)
-  Lando Callriassian  ( 4  points)
-  Gunnery Team  ( 7  points)
-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)

CR90 Corvette A (51 points)
-  Turbolaser Reroute Circuits  ( 7  points)

CR90 Corvette A (51 points)
-  Turbolaser Reroute Circuits  ( 7  points)

Squadrons:  (61 points)
1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
1 YT-1300 ( 13 points)
2 YT-2400s ( 32 points)

This one certainly feels like an all-comers list.  Two AFIIs with Ackbar broadsides, with TRC90s flying escrot.  Enough squadrons to compete, but more for harassment and intercepting bombers than staying power.  Look for this list to be a possible sacrificial lamb or to play keep away against a Black dice heavy opponent.  Four activations, 6 deployments, and a bid of 396 means it's just about average in every way (except for Red dice!)

Doobleg - "Mesa Moodie Bad Guys!"
Points: 391/400

Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (176 points)
-  Admiral Screed  ( 26  points)
-  Relentless  ( 3  points)
-  Intel Officer  ( 7  points)
-  Gunnery Team  ( 7  points)
-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (83 points)
-  Demolisher  ( 10  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Engine Techs  ( 8  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (76 points)
-  Insidious  ( 3  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Engine Techs  ( 8  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)

Squadron Total:  (56 points)
1 "Howlrunner" ( 16 points)
1 Soontir Fel ( 18 points)
2 TIE Interceptor Squadrons ( 22 points)

Speaking of black dice.  This list definately isn't going to win any deployment challenges with a whopping 5 total deployments.  Nor is it particularly impressive with 3 activations.  But it has 3 ships all loaded for bear, and that still counts for something.  Still probably not the most expensive ship in the tournament, the ISDII on Doobleg's list is definately a points hog, but that doesn't mean it won't hit like a sack of bricks.  Demolisher and Insidious round out the group, tossing Screed inspired APT barrages on the foes.  391 bid means he's probably going first against most squads, if he is matched up well.

Look for him to punish folks that went closer to 400, and don't have much in the way of squadron firepower on the board.

Miedomeda - "Dodonna kills again (in space)"
Points: 387/400

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (86 points)
-  Admonition  ( 8  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  Advanced Projectors  ( 6  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)

Assault Frigate Mark II B (112 points)
-  General Dodonna  ( 20  points)
-  Gunnery Team  ( 7  points)
-  Electronic Countermeasures  ( 7  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)

CR90 Corvette B (45 points)
-  Dodonnas Pride  ( 6  points)

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (86 points)
-  Foresight  ( 8  points)
-  Ordnance Experts  ( 4  points)
-  XI7 Turbolasers  ( 6  points)
-  Assault Proton Torpedoes  ( 5  points)

Squadron Total:  (58 points)
1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)
3 X-Wing Squadrons ( 39 points)

I'm beginning to notice a theme on the amount of squadrons for these lists.  This one again does away with big squadron numbers in favor of an X-Wing / Jan Ors combo.  It also has 4 activations and 6 deployments, but instead of Matt's long range heavy Ackbar list, it sticks with some close and personal Dodonna shenanigans.  It doesn't want to mix it up with other first player bidding lists though, as 387 isn't quite low enough to deal with some of the bigger dedicated bids out there.

Both Foresight and Admonition will be able to do some considerable damage if they do close, though each one is worth some decent points if they fail to kill their intended target.  If yousa come after da Boss, yousa betta not miss.

Overall:

Good, solid balanced lists, but no skews to give them really outlandish matchups.  Veteran players, but none with any spectacular recent success.  A general annoyance in the pit of your stomach when you look at their team name.

They're the Baltimore Ravens.  They're going to do well, and they've got a decent odds to win it all.  But you want them to fail, because they're the Jar Jars and you're a Steelers original trilogy fan damn it.
