Let's take a look at how they got there, and their lists:
Reath28 - Imperial Fleet
3 Activations, 8 deployments, One big and nasty ship. Reath has gone with a fully kitted out ISDII to go along with a 10 squadron Rhymerball / CAP. The ball itself consists of a single Intel squadron, Strom and a generic Advanced for protection and movement, and Rhymer plus 3 TIE Bombers for heavy hitting. Mauler Mithel and IG-88 assassinate enemy Intel and key pieces, while Valen Rudor can hide in the Bomber Swarm to push back against anything trying to engage. A Gozanti with Bomber Command Center makes the 4 Bombers that much more dangerous, and a Raider 1 with Kallus, Ordnance Experts, and Flichette Torpedoes only adds to the anti-squadron fire.
I did mention the fully kitted ISDII, right? Motti not only works with Electronic Countermeasures to keep it alive, but the rest of the fleet as well., while Avenger lets it take advantage of any defense tokens exhausted by the Bombers. Wulff and Boosted Comms let it fling 5 squadrons a turn. Gunnery Teams, XI7s and Leading Shots means that it gets to put a lot of hurt on multiple targets.
All that pain comes with a price - he has a 400 point list, so no bid and no chance to dictate First Player or Second Player. Also, no Strategic means unless he can lock down the Lambdas or VCX's his opponents bring, a good Second Player list can cause him some headaches.
Should be a rough matchup for the runner-up of Wave 8!
Edit: Reath is out unfortunately due to extenuating circumstances.

Also representing Australia out of POD #1, it is MattShadowlord, with his take on Ackbar in Wave 5. Gunnery Teams for all, with his 3 activation, 7 deployment list, that also boasts Electronic Countermeasures and Lando for surviviability on one of the three Assault Frigates that he chose to be his flagship. To compliment the long range firepower, he's gone with a ton of Rogue squadrons, including THE Rogue Squadron, as well as 5 YT-2400s. 2 Z-95s act as a free deployment and filler to his list - too few to reasonably dedicate a squadron command to, unless he is going for a full on alpha strike with his YTs.
He also has built in a pretty respectable 6 point bid at 394, giving him choice of First or Second Player. With low activation count of 3, look for him to try and deny First Player to most lists up against him, though without any Strategic squadrons, he could potentially have some difficulty against a dedicated Second Player list. Will 6 points be enough to grab First Player against dedicated First Player lists in Elimination, or did he leave some points off the table? We will see when he faces the Winner of POD #8 in the elimination round!
