The Matchup

This should be a close one. The advatages split pretty much down the middle. Broba's got the more concentrated punching power with his squadrons. I'm somewhat surprised he didn't bring Sloane, but the addition of the always dangerous Morna is likely the reason. Demo is also always a threat you have to respect. The addition of ECMs means it should be a bit more durable than usual. He's also one of the few I've seen still rocking Engine Techs (PSA: It's still worthwhile if you can find the points). Thanks to his squadrons, Broba will also have the last deployment. That should be invaluable for setting up Pursuant and Demo for success.

However, Rasp will have both the option of first player and has more activations. His list lacks the concentration of firepower that Broba brings, but there is an awful lot more. I love his maximization of Dodonna's ability. Between the two APT MC30s and Garel's Honor, he will be throwing crits out early and often. Also note the Boarding Engineers on Garel's. The potential is there for Rasp to ram, have Dodonna pick a structural damage, and then have the engineers flip it again. Ouch. His squadron cover is light, but because Broba didn't bring Sloane, Rasp has a slightly higher chance of bogging down Broba's squads. If he can get an early Dengar kill, he should be able to drag things out with Shara and Tycho for a little bit.

Truthiness' Bet:

This is gonna come down to how well Rasp can manage the squadron fight. With first player and last activation, he can do a lot to gut Broba's fleet quickly. If it drags out, though, Broba can grind out the win. Like I said at the beginning, this is going to be razor close between two very good players. That said, I'm going to pick Rasp.

  1. Did the chart not work for us? It is a cool side by side comparison and I was looking forward to checking it out.

    1. Truthiness isn't good at the whole "not having things he writes actually get posted" thing.
