The Match-up

This is going to be another tightly contest match. In one corner we have the ubiquitous GHY Rebel build, flown by one of its foremost proponents. Roquax has been flying his "Royal Canadian Air Force" for a good long while. He took the Michigan Regionals not that long ago and has continued to tear up the World Cup. There's a reason the build is so popular. It's hard to beat in the squadron fight because of Gallant Haven. It's hard to table because of the four flotillas combined with Relay. And with Yavaris, it can absolutely hammer home the damage. It's the epitome of everything that has dominated wave 6 Armada.

Meanwhile, JJ's Russian Doll Profundity could be the epitome of everything that could dominate wave 7 Armada. Unless you've been living under a rock, Raddus is a one man wrecking crew for the meta. Deployments? Don't worry about it. Activations? Please. He always gets the last activation when it matter most. JJ has all the tools to pick apart Roquax in this match. It's going to come down to how fast he can do it. Profundity and it's accompanying Hammerhead can gut Yavaris and Gallant Haven. Admonition is tooled out to hunt down flotillas. The question is, can he do it because all those squadrons hunt him down via Relay?

This is both player's toughest challenge yet. Roquax is going to have to turtle up. He can use his squadrons and flotillas to deny Profundity an attack angle. JJ, since he brought strategic along to play might be able to snag one of Roquax's objectives and turn it against him. I think Yavaris will be the key. If it goes down without getting a squadron double tap against Profundity, I think the game will swing too heavily in JJ's direction for Roquax to recover. Luke, Ten, and the B-Wing getting two shots in a turn against Profundity, though? That would be a lot to muscle through.

Truthiness' Pick

If someone is going to pick off JJ, it's going to be Roquax. He's extremely practiced with his version of GHY. Still, it's one thing to be practiced in a stable meta. It's just not possible to be practiced fighting against Raddus right now, which I think gives JJ the ever so slight edge. I can't pick against JJ here. I think he'll pull out a very tight match to advance to the finals for the second year in a row.

Biggs' Pick

It is far from surprising to see these two in the Semi-Finals.  The question though is what kind of damage can JJs do with Raddus and his deployment gimmick vs Roquax's 2+4 and his cloud of fighters? I'm gonna go with a gut call, though: JJs Juggernaut is gonna find a way to win. It's going to be close.  But the guy who designed the Thrawn card already has a plan to make it to the finals.
